The latest addition to the ever growing apps-for-android project is WebViewDemo, a small application that aims to demonstarate how developers can incorporate web content into their applications.
A WebView uses the same rendering and JavaScript engine as the browser, but it runs under the control of your application. The WebView can be full screen or you can mix it with other Views. The content for your WebView can come from anywhere. The WebView can download content from the web, or it can come from local files stored in your assets directory. The content can even be dynamically generated by your application code.

Back in May Google announced the first round winners of the Android Developer Challenge, since that date the winning teams have been working hard on improving their applications and getting ready for the second round.

The official T-Mobile G1 announcement event just came to a close in New York and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Here’s a rundown of the facts and features for the upcoming G1.
The G1 will launch in the US on October 22nd and will be priced at $179. The G1 will be ties into a two-year contract with T-Mobile.
T-Mobile have responded to recent worries over the G1’s 1GB/month data cap. In a statement to Engadget.com, T-Mobile clarified that the 1GB soft cap has since been removed but will be reserved for a ’small fraction’ of users who abuse the network.

Sling Media are currently preparing to port their TV streaming software to the Android platform.
In a recent interview Stuart Collingwood, Sling Media’s vice president for Europe wouldn’t confirm the rumor but did add that “We’re looking at it closely, and we’ll develop in time for anything we can”.
With various T-Mobile G1 “kiosks” stationed around the room at the Press Event the idea was that there would be enough phones for everyone to test drive the G1.
